Spitfire by thetypeofpony Spitfire by thetypeofpony
Yes, fanmade Cutie Mark. And open wings. Mane and tail were a pain, but so worth it. I really like how she looks. :)

How did you do the mane and tail? Was it where you have to clip everything to death? It's a really nice outcome anyway, looks very smooth and polished. Well done :)

Well, in theory you simply take the two pieces with different colours and then sew them together. Because of those spikes I had to do that by hand. Basically every single spike is sewn on its own, then move on to the next one. It's complicated to explain. :D

I would have sewn it by hand either. It's just more practical to do, I don't know if it is even possible to do this properly with a machine.
Oh, and very nice Plushy :)
You seem to learn very quickly^^

You mean you hand-stitched it all?

Stunning.

I've only done a couple of bits of overlapping colour like that, and I always just fudge it and sew one piece on top of the other using a satin stitch in matching thread.

I know other plushie makers have done a 'clip everything till it fits' thing, which I've yet to try, but seriously, it looks amazing, really nicely done. Kudos.

Well, before doing that Spitfire all my ponies were completely hand sewn since I didn't own a machine. Now I own one but haven't got much experience so I fall back on hand sewing whenever stuff seems too complicated to do by machine for me. =)

I thought about just sewing the mango minky on top of the orange one as well, just like you described it. I wasn't sure if I could get it right though. So instead of taking the risk of having to do her mane again I did the hand sewing.

Thank you. :giggle:
